Fall is the season of Vata according to Ayurveda. The cold, light and rough qualities of Vata could trigger allergies and hormonal imbalances.
In Ayurveda, the solution for seasonal diseases is also explained as Ritucharya. (Ritu =Season and Charya = regimens). These lifestyle modifications help by preventing seasonal unevenness. There are 6 seasons explained in Ayurveda. Among them, Autumn is known as Sharad Ritu and the regiments are called Sharad Ritucharya.
The uniqueness of this season is there isn’t a sudden increase in doshas, but there is something hidden inside like waiting for the breeding of the disease. The role of Ayurveda is to help to stave off disease by boosting immunity.
Food Modifications: In Sharad Ritucharya the taste of Madhura (sweet)and Tikta (Bitter) is advised for daily use. This helps to bring normalcy to Vata /Pitta dosha. Manjista is an important medicine in Ayurveda and also a famous botanical dye. Literal meaning of the word Manjista is extreme. Like its name manjista signifies extreme action of a herb in vitality, vigour and passion just like its red colour. This Ayurvedic herb is discussed in three classical texts Charaka Samhita, Astanga hridaya also in Susrutha Samhita.
The botanical name of Manjista is Rubia cordifolia. Cordi, a girl's name in Latin means "heart" indicating the shape of its leaf. It belongs to the family Rubiaceae. It is a perennial traditionally grown in the Mediterranean, Europe, Africa and Asia.
Manjista is a herbaceous climber. The stem is long, rough, and slightly woody at the base and quadrangle. The plant has a long and cylindrical root with red-colored bark. Its flowers are white, or greenish, whereas fruits are globose, dark purple, or, black. Stems have a long, woody, and rough base.
The stem and roots are mainly used in Ayurvedic medicine. The roots provide a variety of reds, from orange to bright red.

Shatavari is similar to the female reproductive hormone estrogen. Hence, if a woman has an elevated estrogen level condition, it may cause breast tenderness. Also, it is inadvisable for people with excess mucus and existing digestive conditions to intake Shatavari.
Ancient wisdom is applicable in all stages of life with the support of research and the consultation of physicians. Shatavari acts as a preventive as well as a curative herbal remedy. In the west, its medicinal value is very unknown, but Shatavari is the queen herb that can be used as a food as well as a great health supplement.

Andrographis or Kalmegh is a popular herb that has deep roots in both Ancient Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda. Andrographis is very bitter to taste and is recommended to clear excess heat from the body and help to balance the pitta dosha.
The use of Andrographis as a medicinal herb dates back to 3000 to 4000 BCE when Ayurvedic medicine began in India. According to some historical accounts, Andrographis is credited with stopping the 1919 Indian flue epidemic that followed on the heels of the 1918 Spanish Influenza outbreak.
Recommended dose: 1 teaspoon 1-3 times daily. Dissolve 1/4 teaspoon of Andrographis powder in a cup of warm water and drink immediately. 1 serving = 1 gm = 1/4 teaspoon

My favorite Sewanti product: The Hair & Scalp massage oil. As soon as I opened this bottle, I loved the smell that emanated from it. I really enjoy warming this oil up and applying it to my scalp every week as part of my self-care ritual. I have noticed a difference in the condition of my scalp - it's more moisturized, less itchy and my hair feels more luscious.
Personally, I also find using this oil is better than using just a plain oil like sesame or olive, or coconut oil because the herbs that have been added to it add depth to the oil and work synergistically to promote hair health. For anyone with thin, splitting hair or a dry scalp, I'd highly recommend this oil!
