Ginger (Zingiber Officinalis) is the most commonly used spice in almost all households across the globe. In Sanskrit, dry ginger is known as “Shunthi” and in Hindi as “Adrak”. Dry ginger and fresh ginger have similar properties. In Ayurvedic medicines, ginger helps prevent nausea and vomiting associated with motion sickness, and/or seasickness. Ginger is traditionally used in herbal medicines to help relieve digestive upset including lack of appetite, nausea, digestive spasms, indigestion, dyspepsia, and flatulent colic (carminative), as an expectorant and cough suppressant (antitussive) to help relieve bronchitis as well as coughs and colds.
Motion sickness /sea sickness (nausea and vomiting prevention) use 0.5-2 grams of dried rhizome per day. Other uses: 0.3 - 3 gms per day for adults. 1 serving = 1 gm = 1/4 teaspoon. Dissolve 1/4 tsp of Ginger powder into 1 cup of warm water and drink immediately.
