Past EventsDemystifying the wisdom of Ayurveda:
Neelam Toprani demystifies the ancient science that helped restore her own health and lead to the creation of Sewanti Ayurvedic Series and Padmashri product lines.
Ayurveda the ancient healing science evolved in India, is humankind's most ancient system of healthy living. . According to Ayurveda, health is a combination of the wellness of the body, psyche and the soul. The uniqueness in Ayurveda lies in its remedial methodology that treats individuals rather than their illnesses; it focuses on the root cause of an illness rather than its symptoms and suggests life force of plants, yoga, meditation and detoxification as a treatment protocol.
Neelam Toprani will discuss basic concepts of Ayurvedic medicine; Vata Pitta and Kapha dosha. Theory of dosha is not intuitively obvious to most western minds but help to determine the personality, behavior physical and mental makeup of the person. Ayurvedic medicines are developed to treat dosha imbalances and bring optimal health.

Learn effective techniques for daily meditation
with William Ayling and Debroagh Varnel
Meditation has become mainstream and everywhere you turn people are talking about it. We are sponsoring a talk on meditation withWilliam Ayling and Debroagh Varnel, certified teachers of Transcendental Meditation (TM) who have been practicing and teaching TM for over 40 years.
The Health Benefits of Meditation
Whether you hear about it from newspaper articles, online blogs, TV or radio talk shows interviewing celebrities about their experiences of meditation, it’s ringing in the air!
Sewanti Padmashri Naturals is sponsoring a talk on meditation with William Ayling and Debroagh Varnel, certified teachers of Transcendental Meditation (TM) who have been practicing and teaching TM for over 40 years.
Their talk will not be just about TM only, they will also be addressing the common misconception that all meditations work in the same way and have the same results. They will show how various meditation techniques differ from one another in terms of their mechanics, effects on brain functioning - EEG brain signatures - and especially their long term effects on health.
Perfect health is not only the absence of disease, but the development of one’s full potential. In this regard William and Deboragh will also review the published research studies on how Transcendental Meditation brings benefits to the mind, health, behaviour, relationships, and all areas of life. For example; the American Heart Association has released a scientific statement saying that TM was the only form of meditation found to significantly reduce blood pressure. They suggested that doctors prescribe TM to their patients as a natural, effective and proven way to treat one of the major factors of heart disease, high blood pressure caused by stress! They also noted that TM reduces death rates by almost 50%!
I hope you will join me in what will be a very educational talk on meditation and how you can easily experience the wholistic benefits of meditation in your own life.

Ayurveda & Metabolic Disorders
AAPNA’s 7th Conference, Ayurveda & Metabolic Disorders, will focus on the ayurvedic approach to various metabolic disorders.
According to ayurveda, metabolic disorders are due to Agni Vaishamya (improper digestion, metabolism and absorption). Agni Vaishamya occurs due to the disturbance of agni, the digestive fire. Causes that contribute to the vitiation of agni include improper diet and unhealthy daily routine and lifestyle. Vitiation of agni leads to the production of ama (toxic, morbid substance in the body), doshic imbalances, disturbance in the tissue metabolism, and depletion of ojas, tejas and/or prana. As conditions progress further, blockages in the individual channels of circulation (srotas) occur, leading to the development of various metabolic disorders such as obesity, diabetes, thyroid disturbances.
Ayurvedic texts recommend enhancing the digestive fire through a correct diet, proper physical exercise, internal herbal formulations, panchakarma (detoxification) and rasayana (rejuvenation) therapies.

"Pulse, like a lamp, throws light on all the physiological and pathological states discovered in human being". (Raavana Tantra)
Learn the 5000-year-old ancient Indian art of ayurvedic pulse technique, and apply it to your life to preserve health and prevent illness. Course participants will receive a theoretical overview of the holistic system of ayurveda and will also learn the practical approach of pulse technique to analyze their ongoing physiological changes. This unique ayurvedic pulse technique teaches participants how to detect imbalances in their early stages and act upon them before they manifest as illnesses. There is a lot of fun and understanding in learning this special age old technique and applying the knowledge immediately upon one's own physiology.
Participants will gain an overview of ayurveda and its theories and will learn how to DEVELOP:
Detect ongoing physiological changes and imbalances in the surface and deep levels of the pulse.
Eliminate toxins, enhance digestion and achieve optimum health.
Verify the levels of Ama (toxic substance), Prana (Vital force), Tejas (Vital energy), and Ojas (Vital immunity) in the pulse.
Evaluate imbalances in Agni (digestive or metabolic fire).
Locate and feel the sub-doshas in the pulse.
Observe and understand the organs and tissues(dhatu) pulse.
Predict the influence of circadian cycles on the pulse
BENEFITS OF PULSE ANALYSIS INCLUDE:
